Payments, withdrawals and verification

Deposits are instant everywhere because the casino wants the money in. Withdrawals involve checks, and those checks are where almost every complaint in this industry begins. Most of them are predictable, and most of the delay can be removed before you ever win anything.

Verification, and when to do it

Know Your Customer checks are a legal requirement in every regulated jurisdiction, not an obstacle a casino invented. You will be asked for proof of identity, proof of address and proof of the payment method, and above certain amounts for proof of where the money came from.

The single most useful thing you can do is complete verification when you open the account rather than when you request a withdrawal. Verification triggered by a withdrawal is the most common cause of a multi-day delay, and it is entirely avoidable.

A source-of-funds request on a large win is not a stalling tactic in a regulated market: above certain thresholds it is mandatory. It is a stalling tactic in an unregulated one, which is why the licence question matters.

Proof of identity
Passport, national ID or driving licence. The name must match the account exactly.
Proof of address
A utility bill or bank statement, usually no more than three months old.
Proof of payment method
A photo of the card with the middle digits covered, or a screenshot of the wallet account. Confirms you own what you deposited with.
Source of funds
Payslips, bank statements or similar, requested above a threshold. Standard in regulated markets, and the request by itself is not a bad sign.

Methods, and how they differ on the way out

Once a casino has approved a payment, the method decides the speed far more than the casino does.

Cards
Instant in, one to five working days out. Some jurisdictions ban credit cards for gambling entirely.
E-wallets
Usually the fastest route out, often same day once approved. Frequently excluded from bonus eligibility, which is worth checking before you deposit rather than after.
Bank transfer
The slowest at one to five working days, and the usual route for very large amounts.
Crypto
Minutes once approved, and approval is still the slow part. Network fees and the price movement of the asset between request and arrival are yours, not the casino.
Pay by mobile and vouchers
Deposit-only in most cases. You will need a second method to withdraw, and that method may need its own verification.

Why a withdrawal sits pending

The honest reasons, in rough order of how often they apply.

Pending or reverse period
A window, often 24 to 48 hours, during which you can cancel your own withdrawal and play the money back. It exists for exactly that purpose. A casino that has no reverse period, or lets you opt out of it, is doing you a favour.
Incomplete verification
The most common cause, and the one entirely within your control.
Unmet wagering
An active bonus locks the balance until playthrough is complete. Check whether a bonus is attached before requesting.
Weekly or monthly limits
Many casinos cap withdrawals per period, so a large win is paid in instalments over weeks. It is disclosed in the terms and almost never read. VIP tiers usually raise the cap.
Manual review
Large or unusual wins get a human look. Reasonable up to a point, and that point is measured in days rather than weeks.

What this site measures

Payout speed carries more weight than any editorial category in our rating, and it is built from measured hours between request and arrival reported by players who actually withdrew — never from a casino stated processing time.

A stated withdrawal time is marketing. A measured one is evidence, and the two differ often enough to be worth keeping apart.
